Okay this is another one I can't link to due to flash inaccessible peril, but its quite awesome. Fetish N Leather make a collar called the "Harlequin Collar", from the main site select "Store", then "Collars" then check the Harlequin Collar

A resource for those of us who like wearing collars (in the BDSM sense) aiming to provide links to interesting and awesome collars seen by the author(s) as well as reviews of any collars obtained.

Molloss
Okay totally worth viewing for the introductory flash if nothing else, one part shakey-cam one part disturbing music video background, sadly this means its deep linking and accessibility fail as far as I can tell. The collars themselves also appear to justify the atmosphere on the site, looking robust and beautifully industrial.

Vegan Collars
Okay so some people who like collars dislike using animal products (which in my opinion means they should go for metal Mmmm metal) however if they want something nice and flexible what are they to do? Well the people over at Vegan Erotica believe that being kinky and being vegan are not incompatible:

Wyred Slave
Probably one of the best collar related experiences I've had so far is dealing with Wyred Slave they're a small business based in the UK who manufacture steel rope collars (and cuffs). They're the first I saw doing it (although they may not be the first) and do a range of thicknesses, held together by tension locks (that can be locking or not). Most importantly they also do PVC coated collars, meaning those of us with metal sensitivity can more easily wear them, and they look subtle and classy in almost any situation, and also really hot and subby in others :)

Traeume Aus Edelstahl
Another German company making a selection of rather impressive looking stainless steel collars designed for 24x7 wear, and at prices that seem quite reasonable.

Bound By Silver
Bound By Silver seem to make an interesting variety of collars including leather, posture, flat metal etc. Principally their work is made from really nice looking silver, including some amazing pieces made from woven strands of metal (inline picture after cut).

William Jones Chastity: Neoprene and Metal
Well I saw this and thought it was quite an innovative design. It's a contoured collar but only slightly, designed to be shaped around the neck, however the material choices were primarily what interested me. I've seen steel before but lined with neoprene instead of leather is interesting, I imagine it gives padding without mattering about getting wet (like leather).

Laser Etching
Okay so this isn't really so much a link to a specific collar, but more a link to an example of the level of detail possible with laser etching.
Tajmey's laser etching picture
There are links from the profile that pictures attached to to the business site that will do the laser etching, but I'm not sure they want their Fet profile linked to it, so I'll leave you to click "return to profile" yourself :)

The Dungeon Artificer
Well I thought I'd best start posting links to more collars and get the ball going now everything's setup, so here's the first new link.
The Dungeon Artificer
Okay these are some interesting traditional leather buckle collars, they come in a range of collars from 10" to 20" and seems reasonably priced and look reasonable.
The interesting thing however are the options of having extended O-rings, which are just what they say on the tin, there's a central O on the collar and from that descends a length of leather with another O on the end of it, which looks quite good fun to be honest, lots of options for being grabbed or hooked to things with a short range of motion built in.

Collars, whats all this about then? Physical/Symbolic theory
So this is an interesting topic, at least to me. Anyway I'm going to define my terms up front. This is likely to be the last bout of theory for a good while as I'll start to work through my backlog of posting links.
Symbolic-collar or Collar (capital C): a general term for a token used to acknowledge a power exchange. Collar may also refer to the exchange relationship itself.
Physical-collar collar (lowercase C): An object that closes or wraps around the neck. A physical item worn by a person.
Collared: A person may be said to be "collared" when they wear, or experience, a Collar. Being part of a power exchange relationship, no matter how small scale, subtle or individual.

And before I begin, types of collars
Okay so I thought before I began to properly write about collars I should make a post in which I can describe how I see the various kinds of collars normally worn for BDSM purposes in at least vague categories. This post may well get edited later to add more kinds :) Beware! Some of these categories have some kinds of cross over, but this at least will roughly explain how I'm tagging posts. I've tried to keep from linking to specific manufacturers in this just to make it a bit more neutral.

Torcs, Manillas and collars, oh my!
Firstly remember that collars are not just referred to as collars, if
you're looking for similar items the magic words you will need to
google are things like: Torc (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torc) and
Manillas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manillas).

Startup and Catchup
Well I used to (for a short time) run a small membership mailing list for Collar lovers, however I was (eventually) convinced that this was not the way to go about things and that I should totally just get a blog somewhere, and hence here is the blog.
So to start with there'll be a burst of activities which will be basically reposting the original Collar List mails slightly edited, then it'll be on to new stuff.
